Trent A Carrier, Ph.D., M.B.A joined Biologics Consulting Group, Inc., as the Executive Director of Business Strategy in May 2011. 

Dr. Carrier is a business leader with over 17 years of experience in developing new paradigms in the life science industry.  Most recently, Trent was the Senior Director of Bioprocess Services and Cellular Medicine at Life Technologies. Dr. Carrier joined Invitrogen in 2005 to lead the launch of a new process development services business focused on cell line development and cell culture media optimization.  Receiving numerous accolades for innovation and customer focus, PD-Direct grew over 40% per year overall and >100% per year in Asian markets under Dr. Carrier’s leadership.  In 2010, Dr. Carrier completed his MBA from the University of Virginia, Darden Graduate School and assumed additional responsibility for cell therapy products and services.  At Life Technologies, Dr. Carrier led multiple licensing transactions and was recognized for his ability to build high growth businesses. 

Prior to Life Technologies, Trent worked in Vaccine Technology and Engineering at Merck and Co where he was responsible for technical operations for multiple vaccine products.  Subsequently, he assumed the project leader role for process engineering design of Merck’s first in class HIV-Adenovirus manufacturing facility.  In parallel, Dr. Carrier was appointed to leadership roles on teams responsible for new vaccine development, engineering standards design, capital effectiveness improvements, and product in-licensing. 

Dr. Carrier has been recognized for his thought leadership in novel approaches for process development and is a frequent speaker on strategies for biosimilar product development.  Dr. Carrier has developed a unique combination of technical knowledge and practical business experience focused on delivering value to customers and returning a competitive investment for organizations.

Trent holds an MBA from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business, a Ph.D. degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of California Berkeley, and a B.S. from NC State University.

As the Executive Director, Business Strategy at Biologics Consulting Group, Trent will develop strategies that drive additional demand for BCG regulatory services.  Furthermore, Trent will utilize his expertise to assist clients in the following areas:

• Strategic planning including business plan creation, product portfolio assessments, and technology/product valuations
• Market development ranging from market sizing, regional strategies, negotiations strategy/preparation, contract execution
• Manufacturing and capital effectiveness planning including build versus buy decisions, capacity/capital analysis, and financial modeling.
• New technology assessments ranging from market research, competitive strategies, due diligence, and gap analysis.
• Contract services development involving organization gap analysis, financial forecasting, sales design, and marketing strategies.
